Conventions of Dubstep music videos

To help with my music video, i decided to pinpoint exactly what sort of lighting, camera angles and mise-en-scene I will need in my music video to appeal to my target audience. I have read a number of online articles and comments that have helped to identify the following conventions that are typical of a dubstep genre music video:

• Excess lighting (usually a club scene with flashing lights, perhaps a disco ball)
• Dancers
• Good-looking people
• A suggestion of alcohol / narcotics

I created a wordle with the lyrics to our chosen song "To the Stars". Unfortunately doing this has not been as helpful as I thought as none of the lyrics really stand out.

Band website design

This is my initial website design in Iweb. After familiarising myself with Iweb, I then experimented with my initial layout on Iweb. My homepage layout consists of the logo which will be in the top left corner on all of the bands website pages. Also another feature used is the use of having the latest tweet made by a band member on the homepage and also fans are able to sign up to the website in order to recieve emails about the band such as gig times and locations. The two boxes contain the latest news about the band that is in more depth to allow the audience to know what the band has been up and also to know when the next tour is and where they can purchase tickets.  The photos slideshow on the side of the webpage allow the audience to see live performance shots of the band.
One way in which I will be synergistic is the use of the logo on every page.

Iweb Practice

Today i experimented creating a website using Iweb. Since I will be creating a website for a dubstep band, i thought it would be the best use of my time to try and create a successful website for a dubstep band. I managed to successfully upload a youtube video onto my website, and add a hyperlink. I think the content i added such as the dubstep youtube video, pictures and news feed was good and i may consider keeping this style as i think it works quite well, however the colour scheme i used did not match the colours typically used in the dubstep genre. My planned colour scheme at the moment is bright yellow and black so i will use that when it comes to creating my website. This experience has been very helpful as Ive never used Iweb before. Now when it comes to creating my website i will have a basic understanding on how to use it and develop my skills further with Iweb as i create the website.

Cold play Iconography

Coldplay - Indie. This is because of their use of bright colours, soft rock.

Coldplay's products appeals to a target audience because of their use of graffiti/colours which appeals to youths, who are commonly associated with graffiti.  The symbols they use are very repetitive, in order to create a brand image, one thats easily recognisable and familiar to people.

They have created synergy across three platforms by the recurring theme of graffiti and similar colours, used in their music videos, websites and album covers. Particular shapes and symbols are also repeated within their videos, album cover and website e.g. constant use of the spiral shape. They use imagery from the graffiti wall they created for their album cover in all forms of media that they promote themselves in.
